Allosteric inhibition of reverse transcriptase
Template: Infobox chemical / molecular formula search available
Emivirin ( Coactinon, MKC -442 ) is a nichtnucleosidischer reverse transcriptase inhibitor. The work on the drug were canceled by Triangle Pharmaceuticals, however, since no improved efficacy could be proven. Of the active ingredient should be used for the treatment of HIV.
Pharmacology
Emivirin anneals to a region of reverse transcriptase, which is the catalytic center adjacent to and inhibits the enzyme allosterically.
