Emkendorf is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Emkendorf is approximately 13 kilometers southeast of Rendsburg in Westensee Nature Park. West extend the federal highway 7 and the railway line from Rendsburg to Neumünster.

It is located in a hilly, forested landscape and maritime empire and contains three nature reserves.

History

The place Emkendorf was first in 1190 as Imekenthorp - named after the owner, the knight Emcko of Westensee, a vassal of the Counts of Schauenburg and Holstein, - mentioned, but it is already set to 1600. The church today Emkendorf is the largest by population and area municipality of the Office Nortorf country and surrounds the estate and the villages Bokel Holm and Kleinvollstedt.

Bokel Holm was first mentioned in 1630 as Grange documented and still has a voluntary local fire department with over 20 active members.

Kleinvollstedt also belonged to the estate, but is probably older. For 300 years, there is a school in Kleinvollstedt.

Good Emkendorf

Friedrich Karl Reventlow, who had taken it from his brother, it was of the Saxon architect Carl Gottlob Horn (1734-1807) on classical forms. Today, the mansion is privately owned. It is fully restored and is known for its concerts, including the Schleswig - Holstein Music Festival.
