Emmanuel Agassi

Emmanuel Agassi, actually Emanoul B. Aghasi ( ایمانوئل آغاسی ), better known as Mike Agassi ( born December 25, 1930 in Salma, Iran) is a former Iranian boxer.

He was 1948 and 1952 participants in the Olympic Games.

Career

Agassi was born to Armenian- Assyrian parents. In the summer of 1948 he was at the comprehensive 35 athletes Iranian Olympic Team at the Olympic Summer Games in London, and was 17 years old the youngest member. Agassi went bantamweight ( class up to 54 kg) at the start, but lost in the first round of the Spaniards Álvaro Vicente Domenech on points.

Four years later, Agassi took in Helsinki once again at the Olympic Summer Games in part. In the featherweight ( class to 57 kg) was defeated again in the first round of the later bronze medalist Leonard Leisching from South Africa.

After immigrating to the U.S., he changed his name to Mike Agassi. In Chicago he met his future wife, Elizabeth Dudley. They moved together to Las Vegas, where Agassi worked as a tennis instructor. The couple has four children. Best known is his son Andre Agassi as a successful tennis player and Olympic champion.
