Emmanuel Pahud

Emmanuel Pahud ( born January 27, 1970 in Geneva ) is a native of the French-speaking Switzerland flutist.

Life

Pahud began at the age of six years with the flute. He was educated in Rome, Brussels and Paris. In 1990 he completed his studies at the Conservatoire de Paris, and then continue his studies with Aurele Nicolet. He won first prizes at the international competitions in Duino (1988 ), Kobe (1989 ) and Geneva ( 1992). In addition to other awards, he was also honored by the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation.

At the age of 22 was Pahud solo flutist of the Berlin Philharmonic under Claudio Abbado, after he had first played with orchestras in Basel and Munich. This Pahud was then the youngest musician in this famous orchestra. After a 20 - month break in 2002 took Pahud this place again.

Pahud performs as a soloist in the world and also plays chamber music regularly, among others with Yefim Bronfman and Hélène Grimaud. Together with his companions Éric Le Sage and clarinetist Paul Meyer, he was co-founder of Musique a l' Emperi festivals in France.

Was released in 2010 a CD titled Fantasy. A Night at the Opera with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Yannick Nézet -Séguin.
