Emmanuelle Claret

Emmanuelle Claret (* October 30, 1968 in Gap, † May 11 2013 in Besançon) was a French biathlete.

Sporting career

Emmanuelle Claret was initially active in the long run, before they 1993 the French Biathlon team joined. Already in its first season in 1993/94 they won a single race in Ruhpolding. In the 1994 World Cup she scored with the team bronze. This result could be repeated the following year. The 1995/96 season was the highlight of her career. In addition to the overall World Cup victory, the World Cup in 1996 was a success. In Ruhpolding it was over 15 miles of world champion, took silver in the relay with the team again and bronze. After less successful years, she reached in the 1999/2000 season once again a second place in the sprint in Oberhof, before she ended her career. Claret participated twice at the Olympic Winter Games. 1994 in Lillehammer it ranked 35 in the sprint, but it was not nominated for winning the bronze medal for the French squadron. In 1998 she was 14th in the sprint and eighth in the season.

In 2002, she was responsible for the French delegation to the Nordic skiing at the Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City. After her athletic career, she worked at the French customs authorities.

Emmanuelle Claret died as a result of acute leukemia, in which the mother of two children had suffered since the beginning of spring 2013.
