Emmy (Armenian singer)

Emma Bedschanjan (Armenian Էմմա Բեջանյան; born April 12, 1984 in Yerevan ) is an Armenian singer who performs under the stage name Emmy. She represented her native country at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2011 in Dusseldorf.

Biography

Bedschanjan comes from a musical family - her mother is a singer and producer, her father († 2011) was a jazz pianist -, so they came early into contact with music. In 1993 she recorded her first song on Hajastan (Eng. " Armenia" ), which also includes a music video was filmed. In the following years she toured as a member of girl group Hajer including through the United States. She also won many international awards in Eastern Europe, some solo and some with Hajer.

In 2010 she first participated in the Armenian Trials for Euro Vision Song Contest, but reached the song Hey ( Let Me Hear You Say), which she recited along with the rapper Mihran, only second rank behind the winners Eva Rivas. Previously, there were rumors that the Armenian television would have nominated the duo without public choice. These were based on a YouTube video that had been " mihrantv " uploaded by the channel.

In December 2010 it was confirmed at a press conference of the Armenian television that Emmy for Armenia at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2011 would sing. As with Siruscho in 2008 she carried on a subsequent public preliminary decision before several songs, from which the contribution was elected Boom Boom for the international finals. On 10 May 2011 she left in Dusseldorf in the first ESC semi-final.
