Emperor Bidatsu

Bidatsu (Japanese敏达 天皇, Bidatsu - tennō; * 538, † 14 September 585 ) was the 30th Tenno of Japan. He reigned from 572 to 585 He was the second son of Emperor Kimmei. His mother was Empress Iwahime, the daughter Senkas.

He was 569 ( according to Kojiki 555 ), the Crown Prince Imperial Kimmeis. After Kimmei died in April 572, he followed this to the throne. During his lifetime he was a Nuna - kura - futo - tama - shiki no Mikoto (沼 名 仓 太 珠 敷 命) known. He had his residence whose location is not saved in the ( Ihare no) Wosada no Miya (他 田 宫, Wosada no miya ). This was probably due to Shiki -gun, Nara prefecture, or, because of the name Ihare because, in the vicinity of the other palaces in Ihare Sakurai.

He hoped to strengthen the Japanese influence in Korea again, but failed. His religious policy was drawing to a Shinto. 585 he banned because of an epidemic of Buddhism and had temples and statues of Buddha burn. In the same year he was himself ill and died.

After his first wife died in his fourth regnal year, he married his half-sister Princess Kashikiya, known as Empress Suiko. Overall, he is said to have had 16 children by four women.

The couple Jomei Emperor and Empress Kōgyoku both came from him.
