Emperor Go-Fushimi

Go- Fushimi (Japanese后 伏 见 天皇, Go- Fushimi- tennō; * April 5, 1288, † May 17, 1336 ) was the 93rd Tennō of Japan (30 August 1298-2 March 1301. ). His birth name was Tanehito (胤 仁). His reign included the eras Einin and the era SHOAN according to an old Japanese era.

Genealogy

Tanehito was the eldest son of Fushimi- tennō. Both belong to the Jimyoin -tō - branch of the Japanese imperial family.

He was, inter alia, married with Saionji ( Fujiwara ) Yasuko / Neishi (西 园 寺 宁 子). One of his wives was the " Ichijō no Tsubone, " a younger sister of Senkōmon - in Saneko. At first she was maid of honor.

Life

Tanehito was appointed in 1289 to the Japanese Crown Prince. After the abdication Fushimis in 1298 he took over the Japanese imperial dignity. However, he thanked already from 1301 again, since the Daikakuji line ( Daikakuji -to ) by the imperial family led a successful coup against him.

His successor in office was the Go- Nijo - tennō, a son of Go -Uda tennō. Both belonged to Daikakuji line that descended from Kameyama tennō.

Even after his dethronement, he was involved as a disbanded Tennō to government affairs.

Go- Fushimi was the author of a famous prayer to the God of the Kamo Shrine. In this prayer he called this god on to help his son with the ascent of the Japanese imperial throne.

He was the father of Komyo - tennō and Kōgon - tennō, the ruling in the early 14th century Gegentennō from the Ashikaga clan, who had their seat of government in Kyoto.
