Emperor Go-Kameyama

Emperor Go - Kameyama (Japanese后 亀 山 天皇, Go- Kameyama tennō; * 1347, † May 10, 1424 ) was the 99th Tenno of Japan (Government of 1383 to October 21, 1392 ).

He was the second son of Emperor Go- Murakami and the brother of Emperor Chōkeis, his predecessor. His mother Fujiwara Katsuko? (藤原 胜 子) was a member of the Fujiwara clan. His proper name was Hironari (熙 成). It is not sure whether he had a wife and also the existence of a son, Prince Tsuneatsu (恒 敦), is not assured.

He was the last emperor of the Southern Court against Yoshino (now Nara prefecture ).

After the abdication of his predecessor emperor Chokei 1383 he became emperor.

After the peace deal by Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu on October 15, to Go- Kameyama, was issued on October 21, 1392 to Go- Komatsu to Saga, a suburb of Kyoto, where this anti-emperor of the northern court resided, and this gave the throne and the three imperial insignia.

In the following peace treaty was established that Go- Komatsu would choose a successor from his line go- Kameyamas. This agreement was broken in 1412 and Go- Kameyama deleted from the list of the Japanese emperor. Thus, the line Go- Kameyamas finally lost the throne.

After his loss throne he became a Buddhist monk and lived in Saga. 1410 he returned to Yoshino.

It was not until Emperor Meiji (1911 ) decided to ( the southern court ) to see the resident in Yoshino emperor as the authentic line and ran his own ancestors from the list.
