Emperor Keitai

Keitai (Japanese継 体 天皇, Keitai - tennō ) was the 26th Tenno of Japan ( 507-531 ). The data of his birth and death anniversary as well as its own name are unclear. According to the Kojiki, he was born 485 as Odo no Mikoto (袁 本 杼 命) and died on 9 April 527 After Nihonshoki he was born 450 and died on February 7, either 531 or 534 There was his proper name Odo no Okimi (男 大 迹 王) and Hikofuto no Mikoto (彦 太 尊).

In these books, it is said that he was the sixth grandson of Emperor ojin. He was a son of Prince Hikōshis and (now Shiga prefecture) born in the province Ōmi. His father died when he was young, and his mother moved with him to Takamuku in the province of Echizen to (now Fukui Prefecture ), where he grew up.

After Emperor Buretsu had died without son, the courtiers studied an imperial successor. One of them, Otomo no Kanamura came to Echizen and recommended Keitai as the next emperor, but there were some obstacles on the way to the throne. Finally, he married Princess Tashiraka, a sister of the Emperor Buretsu and came into the province Yamato, to ensure his rule.

During his reign the Iwai Rebellion took place in Tsukushi ( Kyushu ).

He was the father of three emperors: Ankan, Senka and Kimmei.
