Empire of the Sun (band)
Empire of the Sun (English for, Empire of the Sun ') is an Australian music project. It was founded in 2007 by Luke Steele (born 13 December 1979), the lead singer of the alternative rock band The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore, one half of the band Pnau, founded and musical follows a similar electro style as Little Mores main project.
Name
During a TV interview for the channel ARTE, the band had announced that her name was not inspired by Ballard's novel or Spielberg's film of the same. It is more about the sun as a unifying element for the whole universe.
History
After working on her first album Empire of the Sun, published on 30 August 2008, the single Walking on a Dream. It was well received by the Australian radio stations and reached # 10 in the Australian singles charts. The five weeks later released album Walking on a Dream popped straight at No. 8. On 21 February 2009, the second single We Are the People was published. However, the song reached in Germany only accommodate 65
At the eclipse of 22 July 2009, the band showed a Internet broadcast in the manner of appearance in black and white, in which only Luke Steele and his wife are seen. It was spread over the site " Eclipse of the Sun" and uploaded to popular platforms. Therein the songs Breakdown and Swordfish Hotkiss Night will be played.
In 2009, the car company, Hyundai painting titled Walking on a Dream its television advertising. Telecommunications provider Vodafone the title We Are the People used the end of 2010 in an advertising campaign that ran on German TV from 27 October 2010. The song reached shortly after the first showing in Germany # 1 on the sales charts of the download portal iTunes. After re-entry into the German single charts, it reached there too early December first place in the third calendar week of 2011 it was announced that more than 300,000 units were sold in Germany alone, so that the single reached platinum status.
