Employee self-service (web-based application)

Under Employee Self Service ( freely translated: employee self-service, see also Self- Service Technologies ) can create their own personnel-related data itself, view, modify, or launch approval processes employee in a web-based application program or even mobile applications.

By accessing the employees under their own data and processes of personnel management on the intranet of the company's own processes of personnel administration will be simplified, accelerated and unified. Employees assume responsibility for the timeliness and accuracy of their data. Prerequisite for the success of ESS is the simple and intuitive operation of the applications and the ability to access technical to the Services. Because industrial workers usually have no access to a PC at work, a kiosk system can close this gap.

According to the type and extent of access to the data several stages can be distinguished in the ESS:

  • Information extraction of company and employee data, such as phone book of the company, careers, information on the operating agreements
  • Information extraction of own personal data, such as the display of the remaining vacation
  • Data management of its own personal data, such as change of bank account or address
  • Start of approval processes, such as Sign in training, ordering office supplies or suggestion for development goals

In addition to the Employee Self Services almost always special Manager Self Service (MSS ) are used for executives. Both ESS and MSS play an important role in the realization of an advanced service delivery model as part of shared services.

Self Services can add value in comparison to the contact with a HR (service ) offer employees, eg due to the higher temporal and spatial availability, time savings and the user's reliance on the service processes.

Examples of ESS are: - Preparation and delivery of a leave - application, - creation and modification of a travel application, - Change of own phone number - Enter the working hours, - requirement of a bill, - booking or cancellation of a training - entries in the annual performance appraisal process etc.
