Empress Go-Sakuramachi

Empress Go- Sakuramachi (Japanese后 桜 町 天皇, go- Sakuramachi tennō; * September 23, 1740, † December 24, 1813 ) was the 117th Empress of Japan. My childhood name was Isanomiya, then Akenomiya and her own name Satoko (智子).

She was the last of ten empresses in Japanese history. Her father was the Emperor Sakuramachi, her mother whose wife Nijo Ieko (二条 舎 子). She has held the throne from 1762 to 1771, after which she gave him her nephew go Momozono. She never married and had no children.

Her grave is in no Tsukinowa misasagi (月 轮 陵).
