Ems Ukaz

With the Ems Decree ( also ukase of Bad Ems called ), the Russian Tsar Alexander II had signed in Bad Ems on 30 May 1876 at the house four towers, the spread was of literary writings (for all publications and on the stage ) placed under prohibition and punishment in the Ukrainian language.

Previously it was in 1863, Ukrainian banished in connection with the Polish January Uprising, the spread to the Ukraine already in scientific and religious publications.

By 1905 /06 the publication of writings took place in the Ukrainian language mainly in the Austro-Hungarian Galicia.
