Ena von Baer

Anglein Ena von Baer Jahn ( born November 28, 1974 in Temuco ) is a Chilean -born German politician. She was in the government of Chilean President Sebastián Piñera to 2011, government spokeswoman, since it is Senator.

Ena von Baer is the daughter of German biologist Erik von Baer and Helga Jahn. She has three sisters ( Ingrid, Karina and Sybille ). Her parents had emigrated as a child with her grandparents after the Second World War in Germany. She received her degree at the German School Temuco.

In 1994 she began studying journalism at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and was a member of the girl shaft Erika Michaelsen cooking. At RWTH Aachen University, she was awarded in 2000 a Master in European Studies. In 2002, she completed her doctorate in political science at Helmut König with a thesis on the role of dealing with the past of systemic change: The case of Chile. She was promoted during their studies in Germany by the Hanns Seidel Foundation as a scholar.

After returning to Chile in 2002, she worked until 2005 at the Instituto Libertad y Desarrollo think tank as a research consultant for the control of political projects and was founded in 2005 Academic Director of the School of Government at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. As director of program policy and society, she returned back to the Instituto Libertad y then Desarrollo. As a candidate of the conservative Unión Independiente Demócrata Ena von Baer competed in 2009 for the Senator Office in the District of Araucanía Sur and narrowly failed.
