Enagás

Enagás based in Madrid is a listed Spanish transmission system operator for natural gas.

Enagás operates about 10,000 km of pipelines in Spain, two underground storage and regasification three (Cartagena, Huelva and Barcelona). The company also holds a 40 % interest in a regasification plant in Bilbao and 40% of the terminal in Altamira, Mexico. The terminals in Spain have a storage capacity of 2,646,500 m³ LNG and a deployment capacity of 6,250,000 Nm ³ / h

The company was founded as Empresa Nacional de Gas in 1975 by the Spanish Government (via the state holding company Instituto Nacional de Industria ) to build a nationwide network of gas pipelines. After privatization in 1994, the company Gas Natural acquired a controlling interest. Since 2002, Gas Natural has its share reduced to 5 %, as required by the Spanish government as a maximum percentage limit from 30 December 2006. 70 % of the shares in Enagás are traded on the open stock market.
