Enchanted April is a 1922 novella by British author Elizabeth von Arnim.

At the beginning of the twenties of the 20th century brings a small ad in the Times two women in their London club to its own, but same conclusion: away to spend the April of their loads in Italy on the Gulf of Genoa in a villa to rent. In order to finance this venture, they are looking for turn two other ladies who want to spend time with them this holiday. In this way, a marriage of convenience of four people from different strata of English society forms. Adaptations

The novel was filmed in 1991 by Mike Newell (under the original title " Enchanted April " [GB, 1991 ] ). Performers were Miranda Richardson, Joan Plowright, Josie Lawrence and Polly Walker. Joan Plowright was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress and an Academy Award nomination in the same category for her role as Mrs. Fisher in 1992.

In 2003, Matthew Barber worked the template to a stage play that listed at the Belasco Theatre on Broadway and be seen since 2005/2006 also in Germany.
