Enchylaena tomentosa

Enchylaena tomentosa is a flowering plant in the family Amaranthaceae ( Amaranthaceae ). It is distributed throughout Australia and known there as Barrier Saltbush or Ruby Saltbush.

Description

Enchylaena tomentosa grows as a low -lying to upright, small shrub, reaching heights of growth of usually 0.1 to 0.6, rarely up to 2 meters.

Both the leaves and the stem axis are densely hairy woolly. The narrow leaves are up to 2 inches long. The fruits can be green, yellow or red.

Occurrence

Enchylaena tomentosa occurs throughout Australia. He was naturalized in New Caledonia. It tolerates a range of soils, but preferably slightly saline soils.
