Enciclopedia universal ilustrada europeo-americana

The Enciclopedia universal ilustrada europeo - americana is an encyclopedia of Spain. It is often called shortly after the publisher Espasa.

Consisting first of 70 volumes in 72 books ( volumes 18 and 28 were issued in the form of two sub- volumes) and published between 1908 and 1930. Tens of supplementary volumes were published 1930-1933, 33 more volumes came in the period between 1935 and 2003. Added to nor an index, an appendix and an atlas, so that a total of 118 books were available.

In 2003, the Encyclopaedia was reissued in 90 volumes. This issue consisted of the original 82 books and an eight-volume " Complemento Enciclopédico 1934-2002 ", which provides newer knowledge in alphabetical order.

With its 90 volumes and more than 900,000 articles and over 200 million words, the Enciclopedia universal extended period of time was the most comprehensive encyclopedia in the world.
