Encircled Energy

The English name Encircled Energy ( EE), to about German energy on a circular area, is a label from the astrophotography.

High-resolution telescopes fold the figure point light sources with the device-specific point spread function (PSF ). One hand, the entire light energy of a diffraction disk to be recorded. On the other hand, the detector surface must be small enough to separate overlapping diffraction discs of two stars can. EE indicates what proportion of the total received energy is available for detection. The term Ensquared Energy refers instead to a circular to a square area, as dictated for example by CCD pixels.
