Encke (crater)

Encke is an impact crater on the moon western front in the plane of Oceanus Procellarum, southeast of the crater Kepler and northwest of Kunwosky. The rim is irregular and slightly eroded the crater interior is flat and has a system of breaking grooves.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 by the German astronomer Johann Franz Encke.
