Encoded Archival Context

Encoded Archival Context - Corporate Bodies, Persons, and Families (EAC - CPF or shortly EAC) is a standard for an XML structure to encode meta- information about the origin and use of archival history. Such metadata may be so, but also information about relationships between the traditional material in inventory and actual persons, organizations or companies, for example, data on the losing authority or former holders (provenance ), the circumstances of the inventory form. EAC - CPF is developed in addition to the Encoded Archival Description (EAD ) from the Society of American Archivists in cooperation with the Berlin State Library ( SBPK ).

EAC is defined as XML Schema and RELAX NG schema since 2009, before there was a draft since 2005 as a DTD for XML and SGML.
