Encoded Archival Description

Encoded Archival Description ( EAD) is a documentary XML standard for describing Find books and other aids Find in archives, museums and libraries, which is published by the Library of Congress. A first version was developed in 1995 at the University of California, Berkeley in the form of a Document Type Definition (DTD) for SGML. The current version (EAD 2002) was developed in collaboration with the Society of American Archivists. In addition to a DTD that is also suitable for XML, there is an XML schema for XML and RELAX NG schema.
