End of the Road (1970 film)

The road to the abyss ( Original title: End of the Road ) is an American film drama by Aram Avakian for the production company Allied Artists of 1970 with Stacy Keach, Harris Yulin, Dorothy Tristan and James Earl Jones in the lead roles. The film is based on the novel The End of the Road by John Barth.

Action

Jacob Horner, a young intellectual who feels helpless and overwhelmed before his appointment to a university is coaxed onto a station platform by Dr. D for treatment and placed in a bizarre insane asylum called "The Farm". There he gets deeper and deeper into the clutches of Psychiatry charlatan.

When he is finally released after many grueling procedures as " cured," Jacob finally takes his job as an English professor at a nearby college and begins a disastrous affair with Rennie Morgan the wife of a colleague.

Horner desperately struggling with his fears and his conscience. His fear of having to specify some point, leads to the woman through an abortion to death and for the man in even deeper hopelessness.

The scene image is created by Jack Wright III, the costumes gave Catherine Gaudio, set designer John Mortensen was, the buildings created Robert Hamlin. John Alese and Dean Newman distinguished themselves responsible as a makeup artist. George Avakian was the musical director. Filming locations were in Great Barrington, Massachusetts in the United States.
