Enda Walsh

Enda Walsh (born 1967 in Dublin) is an Irish playwright and author of radio plays.

Life

Walsh grew up as the son of a furniture dealer in North Dublin, where he attended the Greendale Community School. The writer Roddy Doyle was there one of his teachers. After leaving school he studied film in Dublin and London. In 1991 he moved to Cork and participated as a playwright at the Corcadora Theatre Company, founded by director Pat Kiernan. With his third drama premiered in 1996 Disco Pigs, which was filmed in 2001 by Kirsten Sheridan, he managed the European breakthrough as a playwright. Due to revision suffered Walsh 1999 a serious fatigue syndrome, but from which he recovered. For his 2004 premiered at the Munich Chamber games play The New Electric Ballroom German-speaking theater critics voted him the " foreign playwrights of the Year 2005".

Walsh works alongside his work as a theater, radio and screenwriter as an actor and director. So he played the world premiere of his play misterman itself and staged in 2005, the German -language premiere of chat room at the Munich Chamber games.

Walsh is married and lives with his wife in London.
