Đeneral Janković

Han i Elezit ( Albanian: Hani i Elezit, Serbian Ђенерал Јанковић / Djeneral Janković ) is a city in Kosovo, is the administrative seat of the homonymous municipality. By 2005, this church was a part of the neighboring municipality of Kaçanik.

Name

The Serbian name comes from the Serbian General Bozidar Jankovic.

Geography

Han i Elezit located in the southeast of Kosovo. The area of ​​the municipality is 82.9 square kilometers. In the north the municipality borders on Kaçanik and in the south it borders the territory of the Macedonian capital Skopje. In the town there are four mosques and two Catholic churches.

Population

In January 2010, the population was 10,065 in the municipality, of which 51 per cent of men and 49 percent were women. In the town itself lived 4970 inhabitants. In addition to 30 Kosovo Bosniaks here live mainly Kosovo Albanians. Han i Elezit consists of ten villages, two of which are no longer inhabited ( desertions ). 1213 registered community residents currently living overseas (as of January 2010). 65 percent of the population are between 15 and 64 years, 30 percent are under 14 years old and 5 percent 65 years and older. 2183 people have jobs and 2720 young people attend school.

Traffic

In Han i Elezit is an important road and railway border crossing into Macedonia. The railway crossing is currently the most significant for the Kosovar rail traffic.
