Energizer

The Energizer Holdings, Inc., based in Town and Country, Missouri is one of the largest manufacturers of batteries and flashlights world. Its businesses also include the British company Wilkinson Sword.

Company History

The story of Energizer goes back to 1886, when WH Lawrence, then manager of the Brush Electric Company, the company National Carbon Company (NCC ) founded. 1896 were offered by Energizer batteries for the first end user. Then the large 6 inch " The Columbia " battery is designed to supply the first current phones. Two years later founded the Russian immigrants Conrad Hubert in New York, the American Electrical Novelty and Manufacturing Company ( AENMC ) to produce new developments with batteries and marketable.

The National Carbon Company merged in 1917 with the Union Carbide Company, and expanded in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Over time, all products were then renamed to the new brand name " Energizer ".

Eveready Battery Company / Energizer developed the first 9- volt battery (1956). Likewise, the company developed the first batteries for transistor radios. The first rechargeable nickel -cadmium batteries came in 1958 by Energizer. The first standard alkaline battery was developed in 1959 by Energizer.

Energizer developed around 1960 the first silver oxide cell for use in hearing aids and watches. That created the basis for the lithium battery technology in 1963 with a lithium cell was ready for the market for the first time.

1986 bought Ralston Purina Co., based in St. Louis, Missouri, the Eveready Battery Company, the holding company of all the Energizer brand.
