The England Air Force Base is a former stronghold of the U.S. Air Force in Louisiana. The base is located 7 kilometers north- west of Alexandria in New Orleans. First it was called Alexandria Army Base, but it was named after Lt. Col. John Brook England (1923-1954) on 23 June 1955.
The base was established on 21 October 1942 and during the Second World War it was used for training of pilots on the Boeing B-17. She was decommissioned on 23 September 1946 although a small cadre of the Army and Air Force in Alexandria Municipal Airport until the late 1940s worked
On October 10, 1950, she was made active again in the Korean War by USAF.
The base was decommissioned in 1992 and is called the time Alexandria International Airport.
