England men's national basketball team

The German national basketball team represents England in international basketball matches of the men, such as in international tournaments and friendly matches.

The team took part twice so far in the Olympic Games and four European championships. For World Championships succeeded no qualifications.

History

The German national basketball team since 1937 is a member of FIBA and adopted in 1946 for the first time at a big tournament, the European Basketball Championships. The team lost all its games and finished last. Two years later, English basketball players were part of the total British Basketball National Team, which was 20 there.

At the next European Championships in 1955 it was re- qualified as a separate national team, was hopelessly inferior in the first round but lost all the games. Also at the European Championships in 1961, the team was eliminated without a victory. After 12 defeats in 12 games the English at the European Championships in 1981 succeeded by a 64:62 against Greece 's first win at a European Championship. Since the remaining four group games were lost but they failed in the first round.

Since then, it proved impossible to separate qualification more for an international tournament. As part of the British national English players were playing with at the European Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2013. Also at the 2012 Olympics, in which it was set automatically as hosts.
