Engwierum

Engwierum ( Frisian: Ingwierrum ) is a village in the municipality Dongeradeel in the Dutch province of Friesland. It is located east of Dokkum and has about 520 inhabitants (2008 ). It borders the National Park Lauwersmeer.

The name probably comes from Engwierum Edingawerum. Thus, the mounds were designated on which the Edinga, a family lived.
