Eni of East Anglia

Eni ( † about 618) came from the Anglo-Saxon royal dynasty of Wuffinger from the Kingdom of East Anglia.

Life

He was the son of Tyttla and brother of King Raedwald. His three sons Anna, Æthelhere and Æthelwald became kings of East Anglia. The mentioned as a son in the Anglian collection Æthelric 's probably just a misspelling for Æthelhere. The main sources to Eni are a mention in the Venerable Bede ' Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum and in the Anglian collection, a genealogical list of parentage Ælfwalds king ( 713-749 ) in the Textus Roffensis. Eni probably died around 618

There is no evidence that Eni self-governing. A stake in the reign of his brother Raedwald as a king is possible but unoccupied. The sources point out that Rædwalds successor was his son Eorpwald.
