Ennenda

Ennenda is a former municipality in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland.

The village was merged as part of the Glarus municipality reform on 1 January 2011 with the municipalities of Glarus, Netstal and Riedern the new municipality of Glarus.

Geography

Ennenda ranges from the lowest point at 462 meters above sea level, the Alpenbrückli, up to the Hächlenstock at 2316 meters above sea level, the highest point of the municipality. It consists of the villages Oberndorf, Sturmigen, Ennetbühls and Ennet mountains. The community is located across from Glarus on the right side of the eastern Linth the foot of the Schilthorn. From the municipality is 35.5% agricultural land, 37.7 % forest, 3.8 % is urbanized area and 22.9 % are non-productive.

The SP reached at the general election in 2003 71.1 % of the votes, 28.9 % of the votes went to other parties. History

The oldest part of the village, the upper village is mentioned as 1303-1307 Obront - Ennant -A and the low - village Nydern Ennant -A. The village was the monastery Säckingen taxable in the year 1395. Kirchgenössig the inhabitants were to Glarus. The Reformation was introduced in 1528. 1774 was built in Ennenda the Reformed Church, a year later the rectory.

Jacob Bellersheim from Hessen started in 1616 to manufacture slate tables.
