Eno Raud

Eno Raud (* February 15, 1928 in Tartu, † July 10, 1996 in Haapsalu ) was an Estonian writer and author of children's and youth literature. His most famous work is the four-part children's book series Three funny fellows, who was born 1972-1982.

Life

Raud was born in 1928 as son of Mart Raud. From 1947 to 1952 he studied Estonian philology in his home town of Tartu. He then worked until 1956 at the Estonian National Library, then as an editor for the Estonian State Publishing. Since the 1960s he was mainly working as a writer and was from 1963 the Estonian Writers' Union at. In 1978 he was awarded the Distinguished writers of the ESSR.

Raud was married to Aino Pervik, their son of the couple, the Estonian writer and japanologist clean Raud.

Literary creation

Prior to his time as a professional writer published his first works Raud. His first children's book Either way ( Nii või naa ) appeared in 1954 in Moscow. With The stainless sword ( Roostevaba Mook, 1957) and the continuation of the hatchet is exhumed ( Sõjakirves on välja kaevatud, 1959) wrote Raud an " amusing and exciting ... Estonian version of an adventurous Indian history " for boys. There followed a series of adaptations Estonian myths and legends, among them The Cunning Hans and the Devil ( Kaval - Ants yes Vanapagan, 1958), The Great Tõll ( Suur Tõll, 1959), a prose version of Friedrich Reinhold Kreutz Forest 's adaptation of Kalevipoeg (1961 ) and The Gotham ( Kilplased, 1961). Among his best known works include the children's book Reggi. The experiences of a small rag doll ( Sipsik, 1962) and the four-part children's book series Three funny fellows ( Naksitrallid, 1975-1983 ). Furthermore Raud wrote adventure novels for young people, texts for children and puppet theater and screenplays.

His works are characterized by fine sense of humor, which finds itself particularly in puns. It also understood Raud to inspiring way to combine reality with fantastic events.
