Enos (biblical figure)

Enosh ( Hebrew: " man ") is a biblical figure in the Old Testament.

Enosh is the oldest son of Seth, the third son of Adam and Eve. According to Gen 5.6 to 11 EU his father was 105 years old when he begot Enosh. About his mother No information is given in the Bible. The Book of Jubilees mentions as his mother sets sister Asura. Enosh was at the age of 90 years for the first time father. According to the Book of Jubilees, his wife was his sister Noam. He named his eldest son Kenan. He then said to have lived for 815 years and have had many other sons and daughters. Enosh thus died at the age of 905 years. Furthermore, it is mentioned in Gen. 4.26 EU, that you were born to the time when the set Enosh began the name of God, YHWH, to call.

Enos is mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus in Luke 3.38 EU.

The Book of Jubilees ( 4:11-13 ) According to a canonical Scriptures of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, however, it was Enosh himself, and not his father, who started the name of the Lord to call. Therefore, it is considered in the Ethiopian Orthodox tradition as a devout and righteous servant of God. Likewise, to write to him to have introduced the initial consonant alphabet to a divine revelation in which the Ethiopian church language, Ge'ez, was written.

In the calendar of saints of the Armenian Apostolic Church of his day will be held on July 30.
