Enrico Fabris ( born October 5, 1981 in Asiago ) is an Italian former speed skater and two-time Olympic champion.

Particularly on long-haul celebrated Fabris in his ongoing since 2000 international career success. The largest of these was the winning two Olympic gold medals at the 2006 Winter Olympics, both over 1500 meters and as a team. He also reached eight World Cup victories and won the 2006 European title. These further medals come at World Championships. On November 10, 2007 he set a world record in the 5,000 meters, he also holds on almost all routes (except for the sprint distances ) the national records.

Career

Initial success (2000-2005)

Initially denied Fabris junior race at the international level, such as the Viking Race 1998 in the age group 12-17. In December 2000 he participated in the Italian Allround Championship, in whether the minor importance of the Italian men's speed skating, however, a total of only five athletes were at the start.
