Ensenada Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education

The Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada ( CICESE, "Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education of Ensenada " ) is a Mexican University in Ensenada, Baja California.

History

The university was founded in 1973. At the foundation, especially the UNAM helped from Mexico City, which until then trained around 80 % of all Mexican students and therefore had a strong interest in the decentralization of education in Mexico.

The CICESE developed in collaboration with the Instituto Nacional Politécnico and the UNAM in 2002 the first purely Mexican satellite SATEX I.
