Enstrophy

The enstrophy is a physical quantity that is in the description of the motion of fluids and gases ( hydrodynamics or fluid dynamics ) are of importance. It involves the formation of an average of the squared vorticity (English: vorticity; measure of the local shear in a flow ) over a certain area.

The enstrophy is used in fluid dynamics, for example, in numerical weather prediction, or in the consideration of the flow behavior of glass double facades.
