Entel Chile

Entel Chile ( Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones Abbreviation for SA de Chile), is the largest Chilean provider of telecommunications and Internet connections.

Entel was founded on 31 August 1964. At the beginning of Entel Chile belonged to the state and was privatized in 1986.

Entel was created in 1964 due to the Telekommunationsplans CORFO ( Corporación de Fomento de la Producción ), this should ensure the transfer of data and conversations over long distances. CORFO is based on a law from 1939, which deals with the state regulation of industrial tasks.

1968 was built in the city Longovilo in the Región Metropolitana a satellite receiving station. From 1970 - 1974 in Santiago de Chile was the television and telecommunications tower Torre Entel (Centro Nacional de Telecomunicaciones ), the telecommunication center of Entel.

After privatization in 1996 Entel PCS and EntelPhone emerged that offer licenses for telephone, mobile telephony and Internet connections.
