Entente Florale

The Entente Florale Europe (French for Flowery agreement ) is a Europe-wide competition, which tries to encourage citizens in cities, towns and villages to increase the living and quality of life. From the original plant and flower competition, a competition has developed in the meantime, the much more demanding for applicants is in the list of criteria as a purely optical townscape embellishment. Founded in 1977 as a British- French initiative, are now taking part in twelve European countries.

The participants are mostly the winners of national competitions. In Germany these are Our ​​city is flourishing and Our village has a future. In Britain, the pre-selection by Britain in Bloom, Tidy Towns in Ireland, in France by the Conseil national des villes et villages fleuris ( CNVVF ) and in Austria by the Flower Council of Austria takes place.

Support of the German competition are the Central Horticultural Association, the German Association of Cities, the German Association of Towns and Municipalities, as well as the German tourist board.

Award Winners 2008

In 2008, only nine Awards were bestowed in gold. A total of 13 candidates had to settle for silver, while there were only bronze for two municipalities. The awards were presented on September 19 in Split.

German winners of the competition since 1996

The national competition Entente Florale " flourish together " is the nationwide finals for the participation of the German representative in the category "City " in the European competition. A nominated " Gold Commune" is nominated at the awards ceremony of the national competition and presented the following year at the European level.

The German participants 1994 ( Strümpfelbach, Bürchau ) and 1995 ( Grevenbroich, Veldenz ) won no medals, but certificates of honor.
