Enteropeptidase or (deprecated) enterokinase, an enzyme in the brush border of vertebrates, which is formed from the duodenal mucosa. Elimination of a hexapeptide ( Val- [ Asp ] 4- Lys) converts the inactive proenzyme trypsinogen into its active form trypsin, the membrane-bound enteropeptidase, thereby indirectly activates other enzymes of the pancreatic secretion.
