Enthesitis

A enthesopathy (from gr enthesis ( ἔνθεσις ) approach and gr páthos ( πάθος ) suffering; Syn: enthesopathy, enthesitis ) is a group of pathological disorders usually joint near the tendon insertion points.

Examples

A known enthesopathy is the so-called tennis elbow. It is painful and usually is accompanied by a non-bacterial ( " aseptic " ) inflammation. As an early sign of ankylosing spondylitis and the comparatively harmless disease Forestier, the enthesopathy on plain radiographs can detect. A common incidental finding enthesopathische are outgrowths on the lower edge of the ischium. They have no clinical significance, but show the predisposition of the patient.

Not so rare, but unknown and unappreciated is the enthesopathische ossification of the soft tissues at the Sternoklavikulargelenken.

Treatment

Treatment depends on the location and severity of the disease. From simple conservation across physical therapy / physiotherapy measures, local injections of local anesthetics - often combined with corticosteroids - and also operational measures are many different methods used. The best is " constructive inaction ".
