Entlebuch District

The Office Entlebuch was one of five offices of the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. Capital was Schüpfheim. The new Lucerne Cantonal 2007 Constitution knows no more offices; However, they served vorherst continue as statistical units. The Office Entlebuch was replaced on January 1, 2013 by the constituency Entlebuch.

Geography

The Office Entlebuch lay in the southwest of the canton of Lucerne, south of the bowl. The office was more or less congruent with the headwaters of the rivers Kleine Emme and Ilfis, one of the headwaters of the river Emme.

Biosphere Reserve

The Entlebuch region since 2000, the first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Switzerland (after Seville Strategy ). For the Unesco Biosphere Entlebuch include eight of the nine municipalities of the Office Entlebuch: Doppleschwand, Entlebuch Escholzmatt, Fluhli, Hasle, Marbach, Romoos and Schüpfheim.
