Enver Marić

Enver Marić ( born April 25, 1948 in Mostar ) is a former Yugoslav football player. The native Bosnians mattered in the 1970s to the world's best goalkeepers.

Career

During his youth in Mostar the goalkeeper talent already came to 16 inserts in the U16 - U18 and national teams of the association. From 1967/68 bis 1975/76 Maric in goal from Velez Mostar. In the 1973/74 season he reached with his club the runner-up in Yugoslavia. In Germany, Enver Marić was announced by the Football World Cup in 1974. In this ( his only ) participation in a World Cup tournament, he was one of the outstanding players of the Yugoslav national team, which could qualify as group winners for the second final round in the first final round against defending champions Brazil, Scotland and Zaire. In the first game of the second round, however, Yugoslavia defeated Germany 0-2. The goals against Marić shot Paul Breitner and Gerd Müller.

After the World Cup in 1976 accepted the FC Schalke 04 goalkeeper under contract. His Bundesliga debut Marić on August 14, 1976 in a 3-2 home win against Werder Bremen. Marić stayed at Schalke until 1978 and completed for " Royal Blue " 47 games in the Bundesliga. In his first season with Schalke 04 in 1976 /77 he played under coach Friedel Rausch 31 league games and came up with his new team to runner-up. In the second Schalke year 1977 /78 he got with Volkmar big a serious rival and only came up with 16 more Bundesliga games. He returned in the summer of 1978, returned to his home club to Mostar, where he stood until 1985 at the gate. In 1981, he became the captain with his team the National Cup and 1984 once again the runner-up.

For Yugoslavia, he played 32 international matches. His debut in the national team he was on 30 April 1972 in Belgrade in the European Championship quarter-final game against the Soviet Union ( 0-0). His 32 international match took place in the framework of a European Championship quarter- finals. On May 22, 1976, he reached in Cardiff with Yugoslavia a 1-1 draw against Wales.

Enver Marić was coach of his home club Velež Mostar, 1993-1998 at Fortuna Dusseldorf and then, until 2010, goalkeeper coach of Hertha BSC. He now lives in Berlin, is married and has two sons. One of them is the former Striker Leo Maric. October 5, 2010 Enver suffered at the Berlin Charité after heart surgery a stroke, but was able to fully recover.
