Enzmann
The Enzmann - Spider ( also Enzmann 506) is constructed by the Swiss Emil Enzmann sports car that was built from 1956 to 1968. The brand name Enzmann is continued by the son of Emil Enzmann since 2001. The company is currently a resident Grossweiler & Recorder in Bischofszell.
1953 was designed by the Swiss country doctor and amateur designer Dr. Emil Enzmann an open sports car, inspired by the Porsche 550 Spyder. The body, a monoblock ( one-piece) made of fiberglass- reinforced plastic, was bolted to a VW chassis. Weight reduction was omitted in the fitting of the doors, which simplified the construction body.
1956 Enzmann - Spider was introduced in Lausanne on the Comptoir Suisse. In 1957 the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, where he also received the additional " 506 ", the number of the booth. Were offered three options:
- Spider - with a small racing wheel and open
- Convertible - with " Karmann- disc " and retractable roof
- Hardtop - with solid hinged or sliding parallel
It was manufactured from 1956 to 1968 the main cause for the termination of production. Was ultimately the purchase of new chassis, which was torpedoed by VW. VW saw in Enzmann a competitor to the VW Karmann Ghia. So that meant veto AMAG, the Swiss VW and Porsche importer, the end of the Enzmann manufacturing. The alternative would have been complete VW Beetle to buy new, unscrew them and the bodies to " Enzmännern " rebuild. This would have been far too expensive and would have thrown Enzmann priced out of the race in the competition - a circumstance that has other Beetle Umbauern how the company Rometsch, which brought an end.
Ultimately, about 100 vehicles have been built. Today there are still around 20 Enzmänner record, including 13 ready to go. A large collection of more than 10 Enzmann vehicles was shown around 2006 in the Auto and Technik - Museum Sinsheim.
Enzmann and Karl Werner Schreiber, son -in-law and son of the founder finished, today faithful to the original editions. 2001 air-cooled boxer engines are used there since the start of the new edition in the year with two liters and twin carburettor from the Volkswagen Beetle. The power is rated at 110 hp. The price of a new Enzmann is around about 40,000 EUR.
