Enzo Sacchi

Enzo Sacchi ( born January 6, 1926 in Florence, † July 12, 1988 in Florence ) was an Italian cyclist. Sacchi was mainly racing cyclist and successful in the discipline track sprint.

Sacchi entered the international stage in 1950 with a third place in the Sprint Grand Prix de Paris. The following year he won the Sprint Grand Prix of Paris and Copenhagen and was an amateur world champion in track sprint. Sacchi defended his World Championship title the following year and was fair at the Olympic Games 1952, the role of favorite in the final of the track sprints he beat the Australian Lionel Cox. Sacchi then moved on to the pros, where he was also successful. In the UCI Track Cycling World Championships 1953 he lost the final of the Olympic champion in the 1000m time trial in 1936, the Dutchman Arie van Vliet, 1954 Sacchi was third in the world championships, 1958, second again. 1954 and 1959 he won again the sprint race from Paris. Sacchi, also known as the Six Day rider (2 wins ) and took in the road race, finished his career in 1966.

The velodrome his hometown of Florence is named after Sacchi.
