Epcos

EPCOS AG, a company of TDK- EPC Corporation, is a manufacturer of electronic components, modules and systems headquartered in Munich. TDK- EPC has emerged from the combination of the electronic components business of TDK and the EPCOS Group and markets its products under the product brands, TDK and EPCOS.

History

EPCOS has emerged from the joint venture Siemens Matsushita Components founded by Siemens AG and the Japanese Matsushita 1989 1999. The Stock Exchange Quotation by EPCOS found on 15 October 1999 at the same time in Frankfurt and New York, in which initially both Siemens and Matsushita each held 12.5 % of the shares. Apart from an interlude in the DAX (14 February 2000 to 22 December 2002 ), the share in the Neuer Markt index Nemax 50 or its successor index Nasdaq was included. 2006, Siemens sold its shares in EPCOS and mid-October 2006, Matsushita has separated itself as another major shareholder of its shares. Trading on the New York Stock Exchange was discontinued in 2007. On 1 October 2009, EPCOS has been merged with the components business of TDK under the roof, which was founded in Japan TDK -EPC Corporation. The listing of EPCOS on all German stock exchanges ended in early November 2009. TDK -EPC Corporation TDK Germany GmbH hold since March 2010, all the shares of EPCOS AG.

Products

The EPCOS product portfolio includes capacitors, ceramic components (piezo ceramic, microwave ceramic), surface acoustic wave filters, inductors, nonlinear resistors, RF modules, surge arresters, EMC filters and ferrites.

EPCOS has manufacturing and development facilities in Europe, North and South America and Asia. The proportion of employees in low-wage countries in 2004 was already at about 70 %. In 2009, EPCOS with a share of 65 %, nearly two -thirds of its employees in Asia, 19 % in Europe, 9% in Germany and 7% in North and South America.

Locations

In Germany EPCOS produced in Heidenheim an der Brenz (capacitors and inductors ), in Berlin (sensors) and in Munich ( SAW Components ). Worldwide operates EPCOS plants in Brazil, Spain, India, Hungary, Austria ( Germany Berg), USA, Czech Republic, Malaysia, Singapore and China.
