Battle of Épehy

The Battle of Épehy was a battle of World War I on 18 September 1918, the participation of the British Fourth Army ( under the command of General Henry Rawlinson ) against German outpost positions in front of the Hindenburg Line. Field Marshal Douglas Haig originally wanted not perform a direct attack on the Hindenburg Line; the losses from the previous fights him were just too high: 600,000 dead since March, 180,000 of them in the last six weeks. Therefore, he held General Henry Rawlinson plan too bold. Only after the battle of Havrincourt he held such a company for feasible and approved the plan on 13 September 1918.
