Ephraim Obot

Ephraim Silas Obot ( born October 6, 1936 in Adiasim, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, † 12 April 2009) was Bishop of Idah.

Life

Ephraim Silas Obot was ordained a priest on 29 June 1968. 1971 he was called by Pope Paul VI. appointed Titular Bishop of Iunca in Byzacena and appointed Auxiliary Bishop in the Diocese of Ikot Ekpene. He received his episcopal consecration on October 31, 1971 Archbishop Amelio Poggi, Apostolic Delegate in Nigeria. Co-consecrators were Dominic Ignatius Ekandem, Ikot Ekpene and later Bishop of Cardinal and Bishop Felix Alaba Job Adeosin, Bishop of Ibadan.

In 1977 he was appointed the first bishop of the Diocese of Idah. He died in office from the effects of Parkinson 's disease.

Through the mediation of Eduard Schick and Ephraim Obot, as the first Bishop of Idah, was a long-standing partnership with the Diocese of Idah diocese of Fulda.
