Siebold's rock -floor Sackträger ( Epichnopterix sieboldii, Syn: Epichnopterix sieboldi ) is a butterfly of the family of the Real Sackträger ( Psychidae ), which occurs in parts of Central Europe, France, Spain and Greece.

Features

The males of this species have wings with thin gray hair of scales and have a wingspan of 10-14 millimeters. The females have no wings and are legless.

Way of life

As a preferred habitat type warm, dry, often rocky areas and meadows. The relatively rare species is most frequently found in Germany in the south. The male moths can be observed at the beginning of April to the end of March, as they bustle about in search of females. The reddish colored caterpillars feed on a wide variety of herbaceous plants.
