Equatorial Guinean peseta

1 GQP = 1 peseta

The Equatorial Guinea- peseta peseta or guineana was the first currency of Equatorial Guinea after independence from Spain. The peseta was in circulation from 1969 to 1975 and had parity with the Spanish peseta. There were coins of 1, 5, 25 and 50 pesetas and banknotes of 100, 500 and 1000 pesetas. The coins had the same dimensions as the Spanish peseta and were produced by the State Mint in Madrid.

In 1975, the peseta was replaced by the Ekwele in a 1:1 ratio.
